ARTIST NOTES
ARTIST NOTES #2 – Publications & Exhibition
Dear friends of my work,
The past few weeks have been marked by several projects that showcase my artistic work in various ways. These range from a comprehensive documentation of my body of work to date, through a publication on the role of contemporary art in space, to a new exhibition in September.
Michael Bork – Contemporary Photographic Works
My first monograph, ‘Michael Bork – Contemporary Photographic Works’, has been published.
This beautifully designed, bilingual booklet documents my artistic development to date for the first time and brings together works from the series ‘Urban Apparitions’, ‘Liminal Nature’ and ‘The Animal Gaze’. Essays, artist’s statements and numerous illustrations trace, for the first time, my journey from my early days in photojournalism to my current artistic practice, offering a coherent insight into my photographic worlds.
Beyond Decoration
A second project has also emerged with the publication ‘Beyond Decoration – Contemporary art begins where space becomes more than architecture.’
In fifteen concise chapters, I explore the question of what contribution contemporary art can make to the identity of architecture, businesses and public spaces. The publication is aimed at architects, interior designers, businesses, institutions and anyone interested in the interplay between art and space.
All publications can be found at PUBLICATIONS
Exhibition ‘SCHEIN & SEIN’
Under the title ‘SCHEIN & SEIN, works by Frank Spillecke, Jürgen Heinze, Michael Bork, Beata Bork and Jean-Pierre Georgin will be on display from 11 to 20 September 2026 at Haus Greiffenhorst in Krefeld. The exhibition brings together painting, photography and sculpture in a dialogue about perception, transformation and reality. The opening reception will take place on 11 September at 4 pm. Admission is free.
I look forward to seeing many of you there in person again.
Thank you very much for following my work.
With warm regards, Michael Bork
